Today, on 4 April, as part of the annual Shadow Day, BENU Aptieka welcomed students to give them an insight into the profession of pharmacist, their daily work and specifics. BENU pharmacies in several Latvian cities and towns participated in the Shadow Day activities, bringing together a total of 55 shadowers.
Welcoming students and introducing them to the profession of pharmacist during the Shadow Day has become an annual tradition of BENU Aptieka. This year, shadowers were hosted at BENU pharmacies in several Latvian cities and towns, including Riga, Valmiera, Liepaja, Kuldīga, Jūrmala, Daugavpils, Aizkraukle and Rēzekne, a total of 14 pharmacies.
As usual, the students were very interested in learning about the wide range of medicines and their applications, as well as working with the cash register system. They appreciated the ability of BENU Aptieka's knowledgeable pharmacists to provide advice and find solutions to customers' questions. The shadowers were particularly fascinated by the opportunity to observe the process of making medicines in the pharmacy's laboratory, getting a glimpse into the precise and fascinating world of medicine preparation, and to take part in various measurements, such as blood pressure.
Young people very often ask themselves who they want to be in the future. Although there is information about all professions available on the internet, it is not comparable to the experience that can be gained in practice, at a pharmacy. This is why the Shadow Day is a great initiative to help students make an informed choice about their future profession. BENU Aptieka has been supporting this initiative for a long time, giving students the opportunity to learn more about the pharmacist's profession, its importance, and to show how interesting and dynamic it is.
We hope that today there were also young future pharmacists among the shadowers! We thank all colleagues who took part in the Shadow Day activities and helped to familiarize the students with the pharmacist’s profession!
