On October 24 and 26, BENU Pharmacy organized its first discussion events dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Well-known public figures, along with general practice doctors from one of the largest healthcare networks, "Antėja," including Jurga Dūdienė and Raminta Bernotė, as well as Dr. Indrė Brazauskaitė, the managing director of BENU Pharmacy in Lithuania, examined the importance of preventing this disease. The events took place in Kaunas at the "Mega" shopping center and in Vilnius at the "Panorama" shopping center.
During the discussions, the experts shared valuable insights about daily habits and lifestyle choices that can help prevent breast cancer. “These discussions were not only informative but also incredibly important, as breast cancer affects one in ten women. However, if the disease is detected at an early stage, it can be cured in 90% of cases,” said Dr. I. Brazauskaitė.
As highlighted by the participating specialists, breast cancer often has no symptoms, making regular check-ups essential. Currently, the preventive program in Lithuania is available for women aged 50 to 69, and starting next January, it will be expanded to include women aged 45 to 74.
For over a decade, BENU Pharmacy has contributed to raising awareness about breast cancer. This year, it also implemented a support initiative, where a portion of the funds from selected pharmacy purchases was directed to the Lithuanian Cancer Patient Coalition (POLA). “It’s important not only to talk about this disease but also to take action to help those who need it most,” emphasized Dr. I. Brazauskaitė. “We thank everyone who participated and contributed to these important discussions. I encourage everyone to take care of their health and remember to get regular check-ups!”
