Working long-term for health and well-being – with passion and devotion.
PHOENIX group's subsidiary Tamro turns 120 years. Tamro is Finland's leading pharmaceutical and health product distributor and service provider. The company was set up in 1895 in Tampere by four apothecaries.
During its long history, Tamro has touched the lives of Finnish people in many ways. Starting in 1907, Tamro manufactured pharmaceuticals, for example the famous Hota powder was a long-time product. During the Winter War, Tamro’s Vyborg branch manufactured pharmaceuticals for the soldiers: 10,000 powder packs a day. By the 1940’s Tamro had grown to become a national operator, and ensured the medical functionality of Finland during the war. In the 1970’s the company returned to its roots as a pharmaceutical wholesaler, and in 1987 it gave up medicine production completely.
The internationalization of Tamro’s business started 20 years ago when the company celebrated 100 years of operation. Since 2004, Tamro has been a part of the international PHOENIX group.
Tamro’s personnel have played a significant role in the success of the company. The people working for Tamro have been and still are very committed and hold a strong work ethic.
